PBS NewsHour Too Big

When I watch the PBS NewsHour (Jim Leher NewsHour) on CH 36 -- either getting it from DirecTV or as 36.1 OTA, it is broadcast larger than 100%.  So, I'm losing headers and footers, such as names, etc.  I wonder if it's just me, or do others notice it, too.  While I can move the picture around  on my setup, I can't shrink it, and I don't think that would cure the problem, anyway.

I don't notice information being "clipped' on any other channel or program, but it is annoying on the one in question.

Anyone else?

Here's the problem -- followed by the solution.  Especially on the PBS Newshour, but on other HD programs, my picture is too large.  DirecTV Satellite or OTA antenna with HDMI output thru a Sony receiver to a Sharp Aquos.  Neither the DirecTV receiver, nor the Sony nor the Sharp has re-sizeing adjustments.  So, why is the picture too large?

The answer is, apparently, that the Sony receiver has lost its mind, a bit.  In messing around, I turned the receiver off and back on, and that cured it.  Apparently, it is beginning to mess up.  I'm hard put to explain "why".  I do know that the Sony just doesn't pass signals -- it does something to them.  Apparently, it is losing it, and is a candidate for replacement one of these days.

Sounds similar to my Panasonic DVD recorder:  I have it set for 16:9 output, and it holds that for a while, but for some reason it will shrink the picture output considerably.  I go back into config, change it to 4:3, and then toggle back to 16:9, and it's fixed.  For a while, anyway.
