I asked this not too long ago about have 2 or more Tivos in a household.  In recording your programs then going into another room to watch them, I understand that it more or less works like AT&T uverse.  Loadstar, you had mentioned how the tuning adaptor might throw it into a loop, but as mentioned in other posts cable is gone.

I have the series 3 and if i buy another one do I need to have a 2nd series 3 or could I get an XL or a premiere?

I would have expected someone to get back to you by now but since they haven't, I'll give you my thoughts.

I would think that you could get any model, series 3 or beyond and they would be able to transfer shows between them.  Series 2 might work as well if you find a good deal on one of those. As far as being able to instantly watch it in another room, I'm not sure about that. I always thought you had to transfer it to the other tivo before you could watch it.

Since you have one unit, you may be interested to know that this month Tivo is running a promo where you can get a Premier at a discounted rate, and get 1/2 off the lifetime service, plus free shipping.  Not too bad if you were in the market for another tivo anyways.
