36-1 Now Wide Screen

I noticed that 36-1 is now wide screen (how "high" the "def', i don't know).  It sure looks better than it did a few weeks ago.  Did they make a decision to go modern, or something?

It's not widescreen. It's still the same old 480i garbage.

You're right. It's not widescreen. It just appears that way because when the picture is stretched to fill an HDTV, the MPTV bug appears to be in a "4:3 safe" area. At least that's what I see on the SD channel on Charter.

Just curious, since they have music on two subchannels, with only rudimentary video content, could they drop the video resolution lower and "give" that bandwidth to 36-1?  What is the lowest resolution possible under ATSC? Can they provide audio with blank video or plain text video? Without cutting the audio rate?
