Hi, I have an Onkyo TX8522 receiver that just clicks when I turn it on.  I tried resetting the amp protection circuit by unplugging unit for 12 hours but no fix.  I am guessing the fuse in the power supply is bad.   However, I have never worked on a high amp power supply so am lookin for a reputable repair shop that any of you are happy with.  TIA

When my 60" Hitachi RP got sick after 5 years, I called Emergency TV.  They picked it up, repaired it, and returned it in short order.  I thought the cost was fair.

Now that everyone has new TV's, I'm betting the shops are looking for work.  Good luck!

The clicking is probably a relay in there. On/Off/On/Off click/click/click/click

Either way if the fuse has blown there is most likely a problem somewhere else. Think of the fuse as a fail safe to protect the amp from being totally destroyed by a short circuit somewhere.

In that case probably not worth repairing as I am guessing the repair would be over $100 and then who knows how long the repair will last.  The receiver can be had new for $166.  Thanks for explanation.

I would be willing to take it apart and see whats wrong. If it is junk not to worry if I can fix it, pay me whatever its worth to you. Not really doing it for the money just like to play with stuff like that I can repair boards at component level. Onkyo does click because of there design, great receiver, I have a 607 I bought from a member here. Contacts on the relay can sometimes be cleaned, if they are just stuck a good smack will free it up but, you would have to change the fuse and it WILL come back. If you wanted to poke around leave it unplugged for at least three days then take it apart, capacitors store electricity and you might get shocked if you are not familiar with that kind of stuff. Peace

I will take a look at it then.   It is actually a friend's unit, and he already got a good av receiver 100W x 5 used (denon?)  to replace it for $40.
