Anyone?  Mine started to go out yesterday.  Up and down over hours.

Well, after re-powering / re-connect coax many times my RR is back for now.  Clearly not my equipment.  Someone on DSL reports forums said that TWC is still rolling out updates to Milwaukee area.

I have RR with two I P addresses (pay extra) and two modems.  About two weeks ago, one of the modems misbehaved -- slow, or no connection.

Over the next week and a half, I got three new modems -- one at a time.  No cure.  My "good" modem was a Motorola "Surfboard".  My bad ones were all Cisco.  Finally, I had service call # 2, and the service man redid every connection and climbed the pole to cut out a suspect piece of cable.  Still no solution.

Then, he swapped out the Cisco for another Surfboard, and it got much better!  Not perfect, but close.  So, I have this situation:  one cable to about three feet from my computer, into a splitter.  Out of the splitter to two Surfboards.  One of them -- the old one -- goes "whoosh".  The new one -- kind of fast, but not equal to the old one.  I've changed the splitter, swapped wires, etc., but the speed difference still exists, with the old Surfboard being the champion.

I have no clue -- anyone with a good idea?

Mine was running slow yesterday.  All the speed tests were saying 2-4Mbps.  I call tech support and voila, full turbo speed.  They claimed they did nothing.  Hmm...

The Surfboards, in my experience, are MUCH more tolerant of less than perfect line conditions than most other cable modems.

I think you're on to it.  I'm at the end of a line -- probably the last house on the string, 'cause our road dead-ends a few houses away.  And, the tech. said that our line was the only one connected to the amplifier on the pole.  Over the years, rodents, squirrels, whatever, have done quite a number on phone lines, so it won't surprise me if the cable line is chewed and noisy.  The tech. did not test the signal -- I suspect that would have opened a can of worms.  So, I'll just wait with my Surfboards until something dire happens.

What does the modem config page (192.168.100.1) show for signal levels and SNR?
