I need a little advice. I've been thinking about cancelling Dish Network, and just using our OTA antenna programming. The TV is a 32" analog set, hooked up to a VCR, DVD player, and our OTA antenna. We want to be able to watch an OTA channel while recording a different OTA channel. I was told we need to have 2 digital converter boxes hooked up to do this. Is that right? The only other alternative is to replace TV? Thanks.

1). Two converter boxes. One for the TV the other for the VCR.
2). New TV and use the existing converter box on the VCR.
3). Get an ATSC DVR such as the DVRPAL or Channel Master CM-7000 PAL. Or use a PC with a tuner.
4). Watch low power analogs on TV and record from the converter box on the VCR.

5.) There are a few DVD recorders with ATSC tuners which would accomplish this too.

It all depends on what you're willing to spend.  Good luck! :)

If you are considering option 3 above, do it now.  Sears is closing these out for $199, and the Channel Master version will retail for $400.

Thanks guys. In regards to option 4, can that be done with just one digital converter box? If so, how?

I'm referring to the low power analogs currently on the air in the Milwaukee area. They are probably not receivable where you live. WMLW, ME-TV, Spanish channel 38...etc... Depends if you are still "into" analog.
