Uverse availability

Hi All,

I'm at a loss here.... I'm sick of TWC's garbage and have heard from friends good things about uverse.  I've been looking for uverse for over a year now (Keep punching in my address every month or so on their website for availabiliy) and its still not available.  I should note that I live in Waukesha, about 1/4 mile east of downtown waukesha.

So here's my thing, I think the Uverse site is either messed up with their database or my house is in an isolate 'hole' in uverse coverage.  YOu see I have punched in neighbors addresses, like right next door to a block away (maybe 10 addresses total I've done) and uverse is available for all of them!  I've called, emailed, chatted with Uverse reps and they all just punch my addresss in and say, sorry its not available.  When I try to tell them I know for a fact all neighbors around me can get it, they are at a loss and try to pawn me off to the local store, what a joke!  I've asked for hub locations, coverage maps, and even outright told them they must have an issue in their availability database, and they don't care.

Sorry for the rant, but I've been on this quest to find out why they've singled out my house for not being able to get service.

So, HDTV Milwaukee, do any of you work for Uverse in the waukesha area? Do any of you know any local people I can call about this?  Do any of you know the locations of the 'hubs'?  Does anyone know if a coverage map exists?  I'm jsut looking for answers, as everyone else on my block and all neighboring blocks get it, not me.

Dang I'm frustrated!

Post or search here http://www.dslreports.com/forum/uverse

These threads are not uncommon in that forum.  AT&T employees check that forum and another one called AT&T Direct on that site.  If you register on the site you can post in AT&T Direct (Follow the directions carefully) and maybe they can help you.

AT&T Direct is similar to a trouble ticket system.  It's unofficial but employees use it and I've gotten very helpful results there when I wasn't getting any help via conventional AT&T-sponsored tools.

Good luck.

Email helprequest@sbcglobal.net with your full address & prequal in the subject line.

It's possible you are actually in a dead zone, like me.

I hope it's in Muskego by summer 2011,for then I will cancel Directv and go with uverse

I've been surprised by the lack of progress on Uverse's roll out.  My relatively small suburb .. a friend of mine has had Uverse for almost 2 years now .. she lives 5 blocks north.

So far, I think AT&T has just abandoned rolling it out further.  Pretty odd .. plenty of customers, waiting for the service.

They're still rolling it out... slowly, though, it seems.  We just got availability here in Sussex.  They started installing the VRADs late fall last year and I got a couple of mailings in January saying that it was available.

There is an unofficial map at uverseusers.com where members can post locations of VRADs and where service is available.

I was told by someone within the Village of Shorewood's common council that due to the large boxes that sit next to the curb they will not have U-Verse here.  They say that they are an eyesore, noisy, and need to be placed every 100 feet (approx.).

How unfortunate since my TWC HD is horrible and keeps cutting out.  I wish we could have U-Verse or anything else that is not run or owned by TWC.

Shorewood just doesn't like the boxes..they are not noisy and they don't get placed every 100 feet, each VRAD can serve customers up to 3300 feet away.

That's surprising.  Where in Shorewood do you live?  I'm not looking for your address but maybe a nearby intersection.

I was an early objector, on the basis that a property owner adjacent to the VRAD could be disproportionately affected due to small lot size and a right-of-way that often extends well into front yards.  My proposed solution was that AT&T should offer free service in perpetuity in such a case, but after negotiating with them for another property, it was pretty clear to me that they disagreed.  :)

However AT&T seemed to be doing whatever they could to locate VRADs in non-controversial places.

I haven't kept up with this issue for a few years, but they are serving large parts of Shorewood.  After the first VRAD was put in on Stowell & Capitol there was an outcry.  There was some back-and-forth, and then if I remember right the statewide franchise law was passed and most of the rest were put in.

The one pictured below was installed in Summer 2008 just north of Edgewood.  I am assuming it's on a private property easement; This is the tightest one I've seen, but being on the alley next to a garage it is about as unobtrusive as it could be.

I was hoping they would come to my area of Grafton as well but so far nothing and when I asked someone about it, I was told they had no plans anytime soon...

Damn thats a ton of gear, might as well have put a standard two post 19in rack in the garage and called it a day.

Plus it would keep it nice and warm during the winter.....
