Now this is what we need around here!

http://www.sezmi.com/

From what I can gather, it's only available currently in Los Angeles.  Not a perfect solution, nor does it offer every channel available.  But real competitive pricing, no tack on fees and charges, self installation and real user control.  Just what the doctor ordered.

If Sezmi makes it to Milwaukee, TWC and the others will be sweating!

The price is nice, only $20/month, but
No ESPN
No Speed
No Spike
No FX
No Fox Sports
No Fox News
NO THANKS!

I only saw about 25 channels!  That sucks!!!

Sounds likes USDTV: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USDTV

If it makes it here, that means OTA bitrates are going down even more...

Exactly. Keep this as far the hell away from Milwaukee as possible, thank you. It was a bad idea the first time, it's no better now under a new name and wrapped in a candy-coated shell.

Yeah, well.  I still like the concept.

I emailed some friends who live in LA and asked if they had heard or had any experience with Sezmi and they replied that it is quite popular and well received due to the low price.

We need better options than what's out there now.

The thing is though out in LA you have about ten independent stations that aren't likely to show a frame of HD content until 2030, so they can buy that bandwidth and no one will notice since only a few of the larger stations will lease bandwidth to them.

For Milwaukee though, it's probably impossible. The only ones which would possibly do that are WBME, WWRS and whatever the calls will be for Pappa's WWAZ which is moving down to channel 5. This service is good for markets with lots of existing stations, but unlikely for others with limited stations.
