Hello all,
I am watching TV on a regular TV using an Insignia converter box.  Using a pair of rabbit ears with a coax going from the rabbit ears to Ant in on the converter box and then a coax going out to the back of the TV.  I have noticed that it sounds hissy and just hard to hear.  I have the converter box volume on 60, and have just had to keep turning up the TV volume but I still feel like it's hard to hear.  Is there anyway to fix this.  I was thinking of using yellow, red and white cables going into the TV instead, would that help?

It's worth a try.  It is possible that the 20 cent Ch. 3 modulator is not agreeing with the tuner in your TV.  The cables are cheap, so why not?

Get some good quality and NEW coaxial cables.  If you stay with cheap cables, you may not solve the problem.

Before you go and do anything else, I would recommend turning the volume on the converter box all the way up, and adjusting the volume with the television.  That should greatly clear up the audio.

Seconded.  See this post: http://www.freelists.org/post/opendtv/Insignia-brand-DA-converter-audio-output,1

If you have a first-generation Insignia, using RCA cables might introduce other audio problems.   There are a ton of posts about this on avsforums: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=948767&highlight=distorted+sound&page=30

Good luck.

Thanks for the information.  I actually forgot my 3rd TV i have the yellow red and white cables hooked up to my TV with the other Insignia converter box.  That audio sounds fine.  On the TV where I just have the coax going out to the TV, I turned the converter box volume up to 100%, and then just adjust the TV volume as needed, that sounds pretty good now.

Thanks again
