DirectV 3D require 1.4 HDMI????

I have the 3D ready Samsung Plasma 720P PN50B450

I noticed that both my Receiver and TV only support HDMI 1.3.

In directv's Recent 3D channel announcement, they indicated they would firmware their boxes..... to add the the 3D functionality and it would require a New HDMI 1.4 Cable.  

But my question is..... How would I connect a HDMI 1.4 cable from my Diretv box to my TV, when my TV only supports 1.3 HDMI  (Directv said the 1.4 standard requires a new HDMI chip)  So does that mean my "3D ready TV" won't work with DIrectv's upcoming new 3D channel???  Hope this makes sense..
