Favorite filter in the cable guide

I just noticed that my TWC cable guide no longer sorts by favorites.

In other words, when I hit "guide" it used to only show my favorite channels.  Now it shows all of them.

Any idea how I can get that filter back? Thanks!

It still should filter by favorites.

What's most likely happened, is you paged up (or down) so far, as you got out of the guide that's filtered by favorites.

There's two guides in a loop.  At the "top" is the whole guide.  After that entire guide 1 thru 1999, will start another guide, only showing favorites, then after the favs are shown, it loops back to the whole guide.

So if you are in the whole guide .. hit page up or down enough times to get to the bottom (or top) and you'll see your guide filtered by favs.

Same thing has happened to me.  The option to place the favorites at the top of the guide is gone.

There are mentions in other threads of this happening.  I wonder if it has to do with the coming channel rearrangment.

Yes,

As stated in other threads on this topic the ability to sort by favorites is gone.  But in its place is the return of the ability to scroll through favorite listing when the guide screen is On just like in the old Passport Software. (The older versions of MDN Navigator just went to the channel when you brought up the guide when favorites is pressed.)

I believe the newer ODN C-boxes have this feature.  However, an update at anytime could change this.  An MDN update could also bring this feature back at any time.  I agree that TWC is probably doing this as a part of the new channel alignment coming in October.

I do not have an ODN box, but the latest version is MDN 2.4.6-19.  A new Navigator MDN update 3.0 is coming.  Don't have an exact date, but I would say around first quarter of next year.  I am hoping that at the very least, Keyword Searching will FINALLY be included in that release and maybe Manual Recording!

Everyone should call or e-mail responses for new feature requests for Navigator and request that they be sent to the engineering department.  Feedback forms for new features are forwarded to the main New York office for planned updates for both the Navigator MDN/ODN boxes.  Right now, they are working on Keyword Search for all versions of Navigator as that is like the #1 request.  The new features with the most requests are usually the ones that get added in software updates.

Jack, thanks for the answer, but I'm not sure I understand this:

"But in its place is the return of the ability to scroll through favorite listing when the guide screen is On just like in the old Passport Software."

Could you please clarify?

Sure,

Before that software update last week on the non-C boxes let's say that you brought up the guide so that it is showing on the screen.  You would press the FAV button on the remote and what the Navigator box would do would be tune to the next channel in your Favorites List.

After the software update, if you bring up the guide and hit the FAV button, it scrolls through the favorite channels in the guide, but does NOT tune to them without you hitting the SEL key.  This was the behavior of the old Passport boxes.

This means that while this latest MDN software update took away the ability to Sort By Favorites in the Guide, it also added the ability to see all your Favorites one by one with the guide on screen by pressing the FAV key.

If you have any Favorites above channel 100 in October, (October 6th for Northern Wisconsin, October 13th for Southern Wisconsin) they will all change to be organized by specific theme on and after that date.

Printing out the new TWC Wisconsin channel line-up as a reference guide,  I wrote down my Favorite Channel numbers, found them on the new line up and saved them to my computer.  Only channels 2-99 will be pretty much the same.    Above 100 you will have to reprogram your Favorites in October:

Here's how to Reprogram Your Favorite Channels (On or After October 13, 2009)

1.) Print out where your new channel favorites will be using the new guide numbers at TWC's-Wisconsin website for your location as a reference.  Make sure you select the proper region!  You will need Adobe Reader or a compatible PDF reader to open the file.

2.) Make a List of your personalized favorite channels and their new locations.

3.) With the list for reference, Press Settings on your remoteScroll Left/Right or Up/Down to Find Favorite Channels, in Navigator Press Select.

4.) Inside the Favorites Menu, use the Page+/- Key to scroll to either channel 1 or the last channel on the list which should be something in the 1000's.

5.) Either above or below the 1 or last channel in the 1000's will be something that says, "Clear All"  If you have a lot of Favorites, you may want to clear everything .  Select Clear All if that is what you want to do.

6.) Than using the personalized favorites list that you created, Page+/- up and and press Select to put a Star next to the new channel number that is one of your favorites.  Press the C button to Save your changes and return to watching TV.

Note that I only have an MDN box.  I am sure the ODN boxes are similar.  Please correct anything that may not be right, here.  I did this from memory as the computer is not near the TV!

All that is so much simpler with my Dish Network DVR's FWIW.  I see no need for the trials and frustrations that TWC customers seem to always experience.
