TWC Boxes and Service Call Questions?

Hey All,

Please feel free to respond to this thread for reference.  For those of you who have had service calls to replace boxes and if the box was replaced, what make and model did the tech bring? Are they bringing the Samsungs or do you have to specifically request them?

The other question is?  Are they bringing out HD boxes only?  (Which I believe they should.)

In some areas of the country, the old, horrible Pioneer boxes are being given out!  UGGHHH.  No reason for that!   I also want to make sure that the SA-8000 DVR (both SD/HD) is defunct, as well as the non-DVR boxes such as all Pioneer models and non-DVR boxes below 3000 should no longer be administered.

Jack, about a month ago I had to call a tech out to replace a defective box. I had picked up one (SA8300HDC) at the local TWC store. After hooking it up it was defective. Called the tech line and after several attempts to correct the problem he said he would have a tech come out to my house within a couple of hours. He showed up in about 25 minutes and replaced it with another HD8300HDC. Told me those are the only HD boxes he has.

About 2 weeks ago I also had to exchange a HD DVR and tried to get the Samsung one. Unfortunately the Cedarburg office only had the  8300HDCs so I got the same model as I had. Atleast this one seems to work better than the bad one which would tile and lock up a lot.

I still do get an odd problem (although a lot less frequent now) where the colors will flash (usually blue) but I found if I go back to a SD channel and then back to the HD channel it fixes itself.

BigDog,

This can also be a minor signal handshake problem.  Try this:  Under Settings and Output Resolution the default is usually set to All Resolutions enabled.  But to avoid any lull between switching from SD and HD settings, you can just select a 1080 output resolution, (i.e remove the dots from the other resolutions and just put a dot by the 1080.)  Than, if Navigator does not take the signal within 15 seconds, reboot the box.  You should now be able to switch from SD to HD resolutions without the pausing.  Do you use HDMI or Component Cable?

Some people leave all their resolutions enabled.  I would probably do that if I had little or no pausing or issues changing from an SD to an HD station, but if you want a slightly faster response time, this is a good thing to try.
