Quote from: PaulKTF;53320So these changes are for Digital subscribers only, and won't affect Analog? I'm confused.

Correct, this is strictly a rearranging of the channels above 100. (i.e. digital channels.)

But it shows channels that were bellow 100 being moved to above 100 (MTV, VH-1, Nickelodeon).

Looks like this needs to be repeated again....from earlier in this thread:

Quote from: klwillis45;53308Q: Are you moving some of my Standard Service channels to Digital Cable?
A: No, your Standard Cable lineup for the most part remains unchanged.  However, many of those channels also will appear as part of a theme-based category on the Digital lineup as a convenience to make the programming easier to find.  So, for example, if you receive ESPN and ESPN2 on Standard Service channels 33 and 34, they also will appear on the Digital lineup in the Sports Category where they will be grouped with other digital sports channels such as ESPNU, ESPN Classic, and ESPN News[/I][/B][/B]

So...for the most part, right now, there will be NO changes to tha analog space.  Yes, there will probably be a move to phase out analog, but that probably won't happen for awhile.  Channels like MTV, Nick, ESPN, etc, will be on its old analog position, and its new digital slot.

While the lineup now "makes sense" .. it's going to be a brutal change, like going to the metric system in the 70s.   Lots of frustration trying to remember where your favorite channel is now.

One of the toughest things, at least for me, will be the movement of all the HD channels to the 1000 level.   As a HD person, 95% of my TV is spent watching HD channels.   It's hard enough to get the damn remote to successfully send digits, now we'll have to hit 4 digits instead of 3.   Ugh.

There is logic to the 1000's, mainly more room for more HD channels without the 500's cramping the space like it is now.

I see the groupings for the movie channels in HD are spaced apart, HBOHD is 1603, then Cinemax HD 1622 and so on, leaving spaces for more HD premiums such as  HBO2HD, etc., for example.

Then in the section for News and Weather, there is really no "Weather", as in The Weather Channel HD" (yet),  but it could be channel 1364,  matching the numbering sequence of the analogue channels as TWC indicated to us in the future, whenever that happens, that is.:(

Yes, the HD channel numbering is higher, but I think U-Verse has numbering in the 1000's for the HD and locals, too, right?
Has anyone with U-Verse have a problem with those?

Quote from: jeffski;53316kwillis..on an unrelated issue,I notice you have a Toshiba dlp 52...Have you had any problems with yours? I've had mine 3 years and after 10 months ,the lamp burned out so Im sure it's due to burn out again soon...I also had problems (when it was in warranty, thankfully) with the tv shutting off by itself...sat in shop for 10 days but at least it was covered. Now lately, this started about 4 months ago, when I turn it on,it makes a very annoying buzzing noice...after the first 3 months or so,it went away after 10 minutes but in the past few weeks,it sometimes goes away but Id say half the time it either gets quieter or doesn't go away at all. Did research on this and sounds like the color wheel is going and you cant just replace that,I'd have to replace the whole (expensive) light engine....I'm ready to give up on this tv and not get a Toshiba again. At least I can crank the surround sound to drown out the buzzing for now..LOL...but when the lamp or light engine dies, this tv is getting a decent burial. (p.s. I paid $1500 for this 3 yrs ago. It's amazing what $1000 gets you today, bigger and better tvs..I'll prob.go lcd )
$1500??. I paid $2K for mine.
But that included a matching stand and 5 year warranty including replacement bulbs.

I've had 2 problems with this set, a 52HM84 btw. 1 bulb replacement and spiders.
Yes, spiders. In the first year we had the set there was couple of spiders that got in the vent and occasionaly went for a walk on the screen. I think they came back recently because now I can see a thin shadow, like a cobweb, across the screen during white parts.

I'd gladly purchase another Toshiba DLP, if they still made them.

Quote from: Jack 1000;53317The New TWC-Wisconsin Line Up Change Will Be Around October 13th.

Almost nothing is being lost.  Just In-Demand 3, (The old PPV channel 803, which really doesn't matter because everything PPV is now On-Demand.) and the West Coast feeds of Showtime:

http://www.timewarnercable.com/Wisconsin/learn/programming/legalnotices/legalnoticeSE.html

New TWC-Wisconsin-Line Up Information:

http://www.wi.rr.com/production/newlineups/index.html

They are moving stuff so that everything is organized by THEME. For example, Sports channels are all in one place.  Entertainment, Movies, and Music, will all have their own categories.

Standard Service, (Channels 2-99 will have very little change.) Some new channels coming out too.

Tips:

1.) Write down your Favorite Channels in the Guide and look for them on the chart provided at TWC's website or to be included in a mailer.  Write down the NEW channel numbers.  You will need to reprogram your Favorite Channels list on or after October 13th.

2.) DVR recordings scheduled (big knock on wood here) are supposed to carry over to the new channel locations.

Jack

I am going to wait for a mailing notice as the time gets closer to the changeover as TWC has/was been good about that, (at least in the past vs. their website) as this is a big change for all digital cable subscribers.
Right now, I am printing out the listing and making sure it is next to my remote, just to be sure.;)

Well, I turn my cable box DVR off everytime I turn the TV and AVR off, so when it powers up, the channel I select as my power-on channel is one I can always watch to start off on (for me it's the Science Channel HD).
-Then I am already in the thick of the HD channel line-up already.
So all I do instead of punching 3 digits (and soon, 4 digits), is hit the Guide button and move up and down on the grid to change channels, it's very easy.;)

duncantuna

I also have my power on channel set to an HD channel, and yes, I understand you can use the guide.

But if you know the channel you want to go to .. using a slow guide, hitting page up/down a bunch of times, up/down a few times, then select?   Not so great.

Of course, no one will know the channel number they want to go to any more, so never mind.

You must have one of the newer boxes, not with MDN, as my 8300HD (no C) runs through the channel guide quickly, sorry to hear of your slow response time.

ArgMeMatey

In the same paragraph that starts with the new digital groupings, TW Legal Notices reports changes to analog service.

I'm really going to miss Shop NBC and Oxygen, which are being removed from my BASIC lineup.

Thankfully, while WTMJ is airing infomercials, I'll still be able to watch Sabado Gigante.

"Headline News moves to the Basic lineup on channel 11
Oxygen moves to 45
Shop NBC moves to Digital Access on 177 ...
In Milwaukee Metro, CSPAN moves to 98
CSPAN 2 moves to 99
Univision moves to 8
..."

We also have a Toshiba DLP 62"HMX95 and it has gone through 3 bulbs when it was "new" due to the "bad bulbs" that were out there. Toshiba sent us one of the new and improved ones and so far it has been working OK.  Thankfully the only noise I hear with it is the fan.

Thanks for the post, when I first read that email/PDF I thought they were getting rid of the 2-99 channels. On the downside it doesn't look like (m)any new HD additions though...

The only regular and not an On-Demand HD channel that looks like it is to be added is the BIO HD channel 1140 and that is only a speculation until a notice is given in the TWC notice site and I do not see it (yet).:huh?:

Remember that The Weather Channel HD, Planet Green HD and ESPNU HD that were (supposedly) added sometime per their site awhile ago (something about not accessing it without a cablecard adapter) were actually NEVER ADDED, but go figure, we dealing afterall, with TWC Milwaukee, right?:bang:

I remember that well.  They said you could not receive those "new" channels through cable-card equipment, (i.e you needed a box.)  But the channels never got added in Milwaukee.  I am still waiting for Spike TV HD, Comedy Central HD, and Chiller HD.

At least when they give negotiation notices for certain channels..., "We are currently in discussions with the following networks....." you can be FAIRLY CERTAIN that the stations will be added, but when is anybody's guess.
