What's funny is that people from Chicago move to the Milwaukee area (Kenosha, Walworth, Racine Counties) and still expect to see Chicago channels. They need to look at a map and realize they're not in Chicago anymore.

The Milwaukee TV stations have a right to be upset that out-of-market stations are competing with them in their own territory. What they should do is make agreements with the cable companies in northern Illinois and compete with the Chicago channels. That would have made it a lot easier for me growing up in northern Illinois when we had cable. We lived closer to Milwaukee than Chicago, yet the cable company only offered Chicago channels. We relied on our antenna for the "more local" Milwaukee channels.

Or, just draw a line at Gurnee (the half way point). If you live south, you get Chicago. If you live north, you get Milwaukee. If you want to watch Chicago channels on cable, move south of Gurnee. If you live north, you're going to get Milwaukee channels.

Troy I agree with you, but surprisingly few people understand that their eyeballs mean real money to TV stations.  What further clouds their understanding is that they are paying for TV service.  For example if I were paying $50 a month for 50 cable TV channels, and most of what I watched was on four Chicago OTA stations they carried, now I feel like I should be paying only $46.  Or less!  So I am not happy.

The bottom line, though, is that this model is not going to be viable much longer.
