When I bought my first pair of (Genesis) stereo speakers back in the early 80s, each speaker came with its own paper chart showing its actual measured frequency response.

Did you get something similar for your antenna?  I know nothing about antenna design but I'd try a more conventional antenna for getting VHF 8.  I don't know how any antenna could promise consistent gain across the spectrum.  That does not seem likely but I'd sure like to know if I am mistaken.
