Has anybody used Speedtest.net lately to test their internet speeds??  I did one this morning and got 11.92 mbps down and .49 mbps up.  Last I heard I should only be getting around 7 mbps down.  Has TWC been upgrading their system again?

The extra might be "powerboost" in action.

Wow, I'm never one to check the speeds, but saw the post and decided to try.

I'm not even on RR Turbo, just regular RR.

No real increase for me:

Maybe the outlying communities haven't gotten the service improvements yet.

I don't have RR Turbo...

However, from the "offical" WI RR speed test site  http://speedtest.wi.rr.com I get

File size transferred : 14.75 MB (15468724 bytes)
Total time taken      : 21.15 seconds (21154 milliseconds)
Throughput            : 731.0 KB/sec [Kilobyte-per-second]
                      = 0.73 MB/sec [Megabyte-per-second]
                      = 5848.0 Kbps [Kilobit-per-second]
                      = 5.85 Mbps [Megabit-per-second]

but with speedtest.net

Makes me wonder if speedtest.net is accurate or if TWC is allowing speedtest.net to bypass the speed cap to create the illusion of higher speeds.

Not bad here...

I did get a test result above 10, I believe it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 11mb down about a week or two ago...  I do not have powerboost or RR Turbo

I've also seen 27-30meg download speeds, usually during the day time when the kids aren't around downloading their nightly porn.

But generally speaking, you usually really see speeds in the 7 meg range in real life.  Those 20+ numbers are flim flam magic.

OlsonNet

I've been getting 30/1 consistently the last few months.

As for actual usage, I've seen downloads in the ~20Mbps range from quality sources.

Bebop

Those speed tests are unreliable even since RR offered Powerboost. The test file is very small and powerboost screws the average in the first few seconds.

What's going on with your upload speeds in WI?
I'm getting this on my laptop via wi-fi in the basement

I am confused,

Do you have to pay extra (Road Runner Turbo) at about $10/month to get the Power Boost?

I get about 8mps download.  No real change for me.  Actually, tested again and its about 9.

This is just standard Road Runner.
