Thursday's game against the Reds should be in HD according to all schedules. However, on D* when I look at the listing, it's the same as last Friday's game (that was not in HD but was scheduled to be) "MLB Extra Innings" to get it you must call and subscribe. HMMMMM

My D* guide says tonights game is in HD but we'll see.  We never really found out what happened with last Fridays game.  It wasn't in HD on any cable/dish system although it was scheduled as such.

The game shows up in hd listings and on 669-1 on d* tonight.  However it looks like junk compared to the white sox game on csn.  I was going to start messing with my settings but then I realized it was just a poor quality broadcast.

I saw it on TWC Fox Sports-HD (531) last night.  Both in listings and properly broadcast.

Here is the reason

FS Wisconsin 720
CSN 1080

720 vs 1080 isn't the reason. NFL on Fox and other networks look great in 720.

The FSNs just have crappy production quality.  Their SD feed looks worse than most SD feeds and the same is true for their HD.  They must get the Yugo production trucks.

I know its a pain but until HD broadcasting gear becomes cheaper and more prevalent you're going to continue to see this.  I've had an inside look into how they broadcast and they literally have to setup and re-create and entire HD studio at least every series, sometimes every game because the trucks are spread too thin and travel to every sporting facility not just baseball.  On top of that each facility is completley different in the way thier in-house feeds get distributed, some own thier own HD cameras, some dont, larger market teams have both, and a lot of the time it comes down to the wiring in the facility, there is only one high bandwidth pathway to the truck bays and when that is taken by someone/something else, broken, or simply mis labeled and unused you get crappy SD at best.

I dont beleive its a plot to get you to purchase the MLB ticket or use MLB.tv beacause they are victim to the same circumstances, however MLB.tv should have a better chance at HD since MLBAM has stepped up and seems to be providing thier own wiring directly to their systems regardless of prodcution facilities.

It amazes me we dont have more complete outages not just crappy SD and lacking HD.

Only time will heal the HD...

I agree,

Remember that these communication trucks and the stadiums are so different in terms of their ability to deal with new technology that it is amazing to be able to broadcast as many HD games as they currently have.  HD just doesn't appear by magic at these live venues.  There are ENORMOUS costs involved in producing, maintaining, and transporting HD equipment from stadium sites.  You are at the mercy of some of these ballparks that have been around for 30-50 years.  They can't just be like a big network with HD studios and storage for the equipment.  You have to literally move a studio with HD equipment and set up from stadium to stadium.

The technology and number of games per season in HD will certainly get better over time, but it may be awhile before they reach a universal standard.

I pretty much disagree with this - it is not a stadium or "truck" thing.

It is a FSN WI being cheap thing.  Many other teams broadcast all their games in HD.

CHEEEEAPPP!  The common assumption is that Milwaukee is very backwards.  Look how long it took to have ONE channel broadcasting news in HD.  3-4 years behind the other "major" markets.

Rumor has it that 30% of the households in Milwaukee do not have inside plumbing or electricity - so obviously they thought we sure didn't need HD broadcasts.....   :D
