Have about 5 HD channels not available.  Not sure about the all the ones that are out, but most are in the 560's range AFTER the PBS stations in the 550's.  I know for sure that Animal Planet HD, (543) Bravo HD, (568)  Sci-FI HD, (562) and Travel Channel HD, (570) are down in my area.  (Channel not available.) in Brookfield.

Restored today. May 11, 2009.  TWC must be reading these boards!  Thanks!
Will post under this section if future channel outages or poor reception occurs.  Others should do the same.  (But than, post back when the problem has been resolved.  This process might spare many of us the need of a service call.

I could not watch the Brewers game in HD today on 531 due to horrible pixelation and audio skipping.  This seems to happen to at least one channel I want to watch every 5-7 days or so.

It looked fine on 531 to me.  Have you rebooted your box lately?

While a box reboot couldn't hurt, generally speaking, pixation and audio dropout problems will most likely not be solved by a box reboot.  Most often, pixation and audio drop-outs are either due to:

  • Problems at the head end

  • Problems in your node: (i.e community where you live often broken down by neighborhood)

  • Problems with your drop line

  • Improper wiring or wiring going bad.

  • An issue with the box. (But this is often the last thing on the list.)
Too many cable techs are quick to swap boxes when there are other issues, such as the first four above, or combination of those four things that may be causing the problem.

I learned that if you can get 6 neighbors or friends in your node to complain about a problem, tech support is automatically dispatched to your area to investigate the issue.  This gets TWC techs working on the issue, without the need for a premise visit service call.

Those with audio problems or pixation should ask their neighbors and friends to see if they have the same issue and than call in to report it if they do.  In this case, if others are having the same issue, it is a node problem.  The posters reporting of issues every 5-7 days recurring sounds like it could be a node problem or a drop pole issue.  It would seem if it were wiring inside the home, it would not be something clearing up and than coming back again.

About 5 years ago, we had pixiation on our digital channels and TWC had to replace the main wiring within our node.  That still did not solve the problem so a few days later, they had to actually change wiring on the line that was like 20 years old and determined that weathering and old outside coaxial cable was the issue.  This may be your issue, especially if you live in an old sub-division where this type of technology is not regularly maintained.

Also note that TWC is moving a few channels around tomorrow.  This may explain the pixation in the system now.  Find out from your neighbors if they are having this pixiation and audio drop out issue in your sub-division.  Have them try to call collectively as a group if they are.  If not, call and request a service appointment by a TWC IN HOUSE TECHNICIAN. (Say you do not want an independent contractor) and please have them come out and check your drop pole wiring, the signal at your node, and any inside wiring.  When the tech comes, say you think this is a node/wiring issue and not a box issue.
