I have a Panasonic 42PZ85U connected to Uverse via HDMI cable.  When I turn the power on, the are a couple seconds of blank screen, then a momentary flash of the image, then a blank screen again, until finally everything is in sync.  Does anyone know what I can do to eliminate this sequence?  This doesn't happen with my older Toshiba 36" tube tv.
Thanks!

Try a different HDMI cable & if no change use component cables.

It sounds like the handshake is taking a bit.

Also with the Viera system, on HDMI the TV can sense when its counterpart has turned on and automatically switch to that input.  There should be a menu selection somewhere to disable that function.  I would try that, too.

My Panasonic DVD recorder can "talk" to my Samsung TV via HDMI, so for example if I turn on the DVD recorder and put in a DVD, the TV will automatically turn on and switch to that input.  The downside is if someone is already watching the tuner on the TV, and I turn on the DVD player, the TV will also switch to DVD even though I might not want that at the moment.

Panasonic doesn't have auto switching or power unless it's connected to a product with Viera Link.

I think your Samsung is capable of auto on and switching with any hdmi connection.

That could be.  I'll leave it to somebody else to figure out what interoperability Viera and Anynet+ have.

However both manuals say that the devices may or may not "talk" to devices from other manufacturers.  For example Samsung says I can set "Auto Turn Off" to ON and that "may or may not" turn off a device from another manufacturer when I turn off the TV.  I'll have to experiment again some time to see exactly what does and does not mesh.
