Anyone have this? I just got one today and I noticed it has LAN/Esata and USB. Any of these live?

I hope they're replacing the 8300 piece of junk. We picked one up a week ago. First one was DOA and the second one made terrible buzzing noises (and came with the "DO NOT TAMPER" sticker peeled halfway off).

If they're distributing new boxes, than this one will be going back.

You would think that those idiots at TWC would have the sense to test out the new boxes before rolling them out?  Why is our TWC-Milwaukee division so brain-dead?

I hope that the new boxes work better.  But seriously, they should be tested before they are rolled out.

Same with mine... when I wanted to return my cable box, I was worried they'd look at that and accuse me of trying to break into the box, so I used a bit of spray glue and tacked it back onto the box.

Of course, the desk clerk at the store just grunted and tossed the box in a big pile with other boxes without even really looking at the box or anything on it.

JeffreyC2007

so ummm...What Time Warner Store did you guys go to to get these boxes....Mayfair? King Drive?

I went to the Mayfair store today and a representative told me they had none and that they hadn't gotten them yet...He didn't sound to convincing...in fact he sounded like he was telling me a malicious tale.

As of about a month ago, when I got my cablecard and tuning adapter, the supervisor that came out along with the technician said that the Samsungs were only in testing at that time. So, I can imagine that there may not be all that many of them out "in the wild."

JeffreyC2007

I stand corrected...i got one today from the Mayfair location.

So .. anyone with this Samsung?  Review?  better than the SAs?

Please give us a quick review on what you like and dislike about it.

I'm sure many of us here would like to "trade up" and get rid of our SA's.:bang:

Do the Samsung's have bigger drives?

I have read online that they were supposed to have the option for 320GB drives.  One was picked up for me from Mayfair this afternoon so I can confirm when I get it at home tonight.

klwillis45

Sweet. I believe that's double the size of the 8300s.

The key word was option... it has a 160GB drive.

Boo!  But not surprised.

Does anyone know if the new Samsung DVR's are also being deployed for Standard Definition?

I'm keeping my SA 8300HD for my main set but I've also got an SA 8000 on an SD set that is having audio sync issues.  That box has been swapped out many, many times and there's always something wrong.  Hoping a Sammy might be an improvement.

Here is a link to a post about some of the diagnostic screens on the 3090.  As you look through the screens you can see that this one came with a 320GB drive.
