Is TWC 1080p?

I've had a decent 720p HDTV for years, so this has never been an issue.  But as I prepare to buy a new LCD HDTV, I'm wondering:  Does Time Warner Cable broadcast in 1080p?

I can't find the answer anywhere.

Additionally, is the HD DVR I'm using from them, which I've had since it came out, the most current box?  If so, is there anything on the horizon?

Thanks in advance.

No one broadcasts in 1080p yet. 1080p is pretty much limited to blu-ray, video games, & some PPV stuff at this point.

Which dvr box do you have?

You can find a list of who's 720p & who's 1080i here.

Gotcha.  But when networks finally do go to 1080p, will my DVR / TWC accommodate them?  I have the Explorer 8300HD DVR.

I don't see 1080p becoming a reality for broadcast or cable anytime soon.  They'd have to go to mpeg4 or something first... like who was it?  Dish Network?

I'd rather have 720p/1080i in mpeg2, than re-sampled 1080p (most likely just up-converted anyway) in mpeg4....  yuck.....

That said, I think the boxes themselves should have the ability to up-convert to 1080p (provided its a high quality conversion), so that way we can switch channels, not have to sit and wait for our TVs to adjust, and get the "best of both worlds" when it comes to the progressive 720p, or the resolution of 1080i  broadcasts, and not have to choose between the two....

Again, is the Explorer 8300HD DVR the most current TWC DVR?  And will it accommodate 1080p whenever that happens?

And as said before, the question is pointless; no one broadcasts in 1080p, and no one will be broadcasting in 1080p for quite some time - like YEARS - if ever.

And if in the far distant future someone decides to broadcast in 1080p, and the box you have is incompatible, just exchange it for a new one.

As far as "is it the most current one" the answer is yes, They are internally testing newer Samsung boxes that are slightly faster - but otherwise have nearly identical specs to the 8300.
