TV's with Cable Cards

After researching the cable cards for the Tivo got me thinking.  I know someone who owns a TV with a cable card slot.  They went out of their way to buy a TV that had that technology because they didn't want to rent a box and the remote.  TWC told them the same thing that they told us Tivo customers that they were phasing out the cable card and they made them get the box (non DVR box I believe).  On a separate thread I posted about the filing a complaint with the FCC, or calling a local rep, is their anything else to be done?
