That's funny. The only problem with it is that the news is on. When TMJ 4's lovely standard definition news is on, there's no HD to drop.

To their credit, however, they seem to have upgraded their sound to dolby digital from stereo.

I guess that you didn't watch the morning news updates or Live at Daybreak to see that the crawl is now in HD.

No, I didn't see the morning news updates, but I did read your previous post that they're running an HD news crawl. My point was that the news itself is still not in HD.

They are also sending out a 5.1 audio stream for local news and during local commercials as well.  During the breaking news that was just on, the anchors vocals were coming through the center channel, and the other 4 were silent.  Transitions had some signal on the 4 surrounds.  During local commercials, vocals were mainly on the center channel, but there was some signal on the 4 surrounds.  It sounds just like applying Pro Logic to a stereo analog input.

is it me or does tmj4 seem to be makin hd prep 5.1 surround news hd crawls idk it seems like something maybe coming also the video seems clearer idk it seems like they have something up there sleeve

I want to give a thumbs up to WTMJ.  Both WTMJ and WISN were scrolling a reminder about the digital conversion last night.

WISN dropped out of HD during "Lost" to scroll the message.  (The first time they did it, they scrolled it for several minutes, but I'm not here to vent about that  :mad: )

WTMJ had an HD scroll going last night during "Life".

So, kudos to WTMJ for getting it right.  I'm not their biggest fan in the world, because of the way they overhype weather.  But they need to hear it when they do things the right way, too.

The crawl's were for the phone bank. The phone bank was mainly held due to the 18, 24, and 30 shut off on the 17th, but also to answer questions about the DTV conversion.

Can you believe that people were calling in asking "why did channel 18 and 24 stop showing regular programming?" or "why is this guy signing on channel 18?"
