Been having some issues with my HD DVR from DirecTV over the past few weeks. At first it was losing recordings, then suddnly it would freeze up causing me to restart the system. This weekend it began doing what I guess I would describe as "dropping frames" making the picture similar to watching a very high quality YouTube video. Finally it has stopped working altogether. I believe I saw a quick "Hard drive error" message the other day.

I have a DirecTV guy coming over in the next few minutes to take care of the problem (and hopefully give us a new reciever. The woman on the phone at DirecTV seemed to insist it was a signal error. Hardly seems likely now that I can't even get the box to boot up.)

Anyone else here have issues with their HD DVR?

Never had any issues to the extent that you are having them. My only ongoing problem is the box wil reboot sometimes when I power it and the tv on at the same time. Sometimes it happens every day sometimes it will go 2 weeks without doing it. Arg do I hate random issues!

Signal is almost always blamed by the phone support, most of the time they want you to format the receiver, but I sure hope the tech has a box in the truck because it sounds to me like yours up and died. One thing I have never had a problem with is getting something replaced and I have only had to do that a few times in 8 years.

Yeah, the tech here now is saying its an error with the hard drive.. so it's time for a new reciever.

Too bad this didn't happen later in the year, maybe I could have recieved the HD reciever with TiVo! Oh well.. :(

I had the same problem , I called Directv last Friday afternoon 2/6/09 and got the new one yesterday via FedEx and it works fine now. Only bad thing was that I lost some of the movies I had recorded . I also called FedEx last night and they will pick up the old one this afternoon.
