TMJ4 Going HD... like in hours?

OK watching the 3:00 news, Scott Steele not in front of the green screen today for the weather, and then he says "You wish you could be a fly on the wall?" "This area is filled with people today, so cope with us as we transition to high definition" Says Shelley Walcott. Before the news at 3, they had a "technical difficulties" screen. Could we be seeing hd news tonight?

I heard that too. But I think Shelley didn't say anything, It was all Scott.  Was he supposed to say that??? We all know how scott is. Seems like a weird way to break the news of TMJ4 HD.

There's no news of HD on their website.

IF and I mean IF TMJ4 were to go HD tonight, It wouldn't be untill Live at 6:00, (They don't get a break untill 5:30.) or Live at 10:00

They seem to be using a lot of different camera angles, and watching on my computer tuner, I can sometimes hear people working in the background.

They do keep showing slates, but that's typical of their 3 and 4 PM newscasts. :p

Stations tend to go HD during a newscast that gets less viewers. If they don't go HD today, my bet would be Saturday or Sunday evening.

I do recall Shelley saying something, but maybe not. I was too excited to hear the news that, potentionally, the station who would drop hd for weather coverage will probably be the first hd station in Milwaukee. It does seem wierd watching weather without someone pointing to the maps and stuff. Maybe Tim Cuprisin will post something on his blog later. And I also agree that they should do it at 6 or 10, but they might do it at 5 too.

Maybe they'll have a new graphics set or new set, soon? I think i'm looking too far ahead. HD WEATHER CLOSINGS!!!

Nope, no hd at 6pm. Could still be 10pm though. WITI6Fan could be right, they may do it this weekend.

They've been scrolling the ticker across the entire screen the last few days, and I've noticed different graphics as well.

Yeah I really think that they are going to go HD extremely soon; the new 16x9 ticker and now that they're DD5.1 now tells me they have new equipment. Unfortunately I didn't get to see what started this whole thread, but Scott Steele did say at the end of the 4:30 newscast "I've never seen this much talent [technicians?] in here before!". Also, like WITI6Fan said, I heard people working in the background when they were interviewing some people, and they were using different camera angles.

Also, when they showed tonight's primetime lineup, there was no HDTV icon next to Live at 10:00:confused:. Do you think that matters?

It'll be nice to finally see local news in HD! No more switching to SD to show closings:D!!

Boy am I glad someone else noticed that too.  I thought there might have been something wrong with my TV.

Yes, last night was okay for a change, but there was before, maybe TMJ needed to tweak it some more and did.
It happened on both TVs and DVRs, so I know it wasn't my components.
-Saturday Night Live is new tonight, so it will be great not to have any colour flicker.

I'm glad you brought up the color flicker I thought something was wrong with my TV or I was seeing things.

May be the heading should be changed to " TMJ4 Going HD.... Like in YEARS" . Don't get your hopes up people, TMJ4 would be the last tv station in Milw area that will go HD.

That's being unrealistically pessimistic. There are many reasons that they would go HD sooner rather than later:
- They were one of two stations that announced a year ago that they had firm plans to go HD (the other was WISN)
- They are the only station that has a main news set that was semi-recently remodeled with HD in mind (WITI's morning news set is clearly HD-ready, but their evening news set is clearly NOT, despite the paint and patch job they just put on it.)
- They are the flagship station for Journal Communications
- Their newcasts serve not one, but two television stations (they provide morning and noon newscasts to WGBA Green Bay)

Now, I don't know if they in fact will go HD imminently as this thread suggests, but they are definitely not the LAST station to go HD (that would be either FOX 6 or CBS58).
