Well, it is now.

Someone must have woken up and flipped the switch.

Let's see, we've only been working with HD programming for how many years?

Simply Amazing! The first play in SD!
I had about 20 people all scream WTF!
Just about ready to call the news tipline and ofter them a tip to switch the feed back to HD when it switched back.

I was expecting to see a time/temp/wind chill bug to come in.

Lame.

I was waiting for the bug to tell us that it was 31 degrees outside and break away for news coverage showing melting snowbanks

I'm glad my TV keeps losing the signal every 10min along with lots of choppiness and artifacts. TMJ comes in crystal clear over the air all the time and every other digital channel is working fine right now but TMJ keeps cutting out.

Great fun in watching everything in SD tonight. :bang:

As soon as I saw it downconvert just as they went to commercial it was like "uh oh" and I was just imagining everyone out there with their own mental countdown as to when they would have had enough and made the call to TMJ, lol. "I'm giving them until the next commercial break..."

nbc is available for free on several satellites, all you need is a 1 meter dish and a 200 dollar receiver,  then you never have to deal with 4 again.

I hate NBC on so many levels.  The first play in SD was no big deal, but a joke.  Not having a strong enough signal where someone living less than 5 miles from the tower is losing the picture is a huge joke (did anyone else notice the signal went to crap on the biggest plays of the game?  The Fitzgerald TD, the winning TD, the last play of the game, etc).  Then they cap it off by having a special 1 hour Office right after the game, which is great unless you had your DVR auto record it and you missed the last 18 minutes of the episode because of post game.

Was last night the first time TMJ was able to splash their bug on the screen without dropping out of HD?  When they did it, it was centered on the bottom of the screen.

Or was I just seeing things?

I was telling my friend who was over to watch the game about how annoying WTMJ HD is and how I would love to see them drop out of HD for a weather alert so someone other than us would see it too.   Not 5 minutes later I saw it drop to SD and told him that if it's not back by kickoff then I'm finished with them.  Turned on the 360 and started watching in HD on WMAQ.  I will never again watch anything on WTMJ.:bang:

It would also be appreciated if TMJ4 would drop that useless weather channel on 4-2. Besides soaking up Hd bandwidth the information it provides is useless. I can't read lips and there is no closed captioning when the weather person is talking and all you hear is music. Why doesn't anyone there watch & listen to that channel? AND FIX IT IF IT'S BROKE! :bang:

How are you doing that ? I'd like to do the reverse as I'm living in Chicago now.

They've been doing that for a little while.  Sometimes it's really small in the left corner, and other times it's bigger in the center like you saw.

I'm using Media Center with an OTA antenna hanging from the ceiling of my bedroom pointed at Chicago.  I've been waiting for the shutdown to get a more permanent solution up on the roof.  Looks like I'm going to be waiting even longer.   If I can get all Chicago locals OTA after the shutdown I can finally ditch the Milwaukee QAM HD channels.
