external HD for SA 8300 HD DVR passport?

I was searching this forum.. and didn't find an exact answer to my question.

My question is, can I attach a separate SATA external Hardrive to my SA 8300 box?

If I can, which ones are known to work?  and is there any specific instructions I need to do this?  Thanks!
