and with all this stupidity of local overblown weather coverage, they STILL can't give is local news in HD! :bang:   SOOOOOOO behind the times:huh?:

Even when there is no storm of the century to fret over, local news is impossible to watch.  Is there really nothing going on the region/country/world other than traffic and weather?

I wish they had a Sports Center style ticker to show what coverage was coming up, but I fear it would look like this:

What was really tied for an inane bottom were the crawls Friday and Friday night announcing closings.  I think one station "bragged" that there were over 800 "closed" announcements.  Yikes!  Anyone above a 60 IQ knew that everything was closed, and to sit thru 800 announcements?  Also, with perfect lack of logic, one channel had the announcements alphabetized, but those using the word "the" as the first word all fell in with the "th" group.  Duh.

What they should be showing is the perfectly miserable job of snow removal from downtown Milwaukee streets, but I understand that Chicago has given up on plowing the side streets.  So, we should count our blessings.

The local Chicago channels never have the weather crawls on or other junk on the screen during the STORM OF THE CENTURY meaning 1-3 inches of snow tonight

Milwaukee doesn't really worry about side streets either.  Most of the streets in my neighborhood (part Milwaukee, part Tosa) were not plowed for the first time until mid to late afternoon on Friday.  Some nearby streets were not plowed AT ALL during the previous snow storms.

FOX 6 just broke into programming to tell us... that it ISN'T snowing out.

I only wish I were kidding. They talked about how the snow had moved out already for the evening, teased the next storm to come, but the whole thing basically was completely pointless because right now, there was absolutely nothing to report.

Yeesh. Thanks, FOX 6.

That's fantastic... it's too bad we're such a lazy society.  As bad as some of the content is, there's no reason newspapers should be going out of business while these local news outfits continue to prosper.
