Is the 80GB model the one that will play the old PS games?

The original 60GB model is the one that will play the most PS2 games and can be upgraded to 200+GB with a 2.5" SATA drive

The 80GB model that had Metal Gear Solid packed in did have emulated backwards compatibility.  Those packages are hard to find.  The new 80GB that just came out a few weeks ago will play some PS1 games, but not PS2.

Yeah, the original 20 and 60GB models had an actual PS2 chip inside, so they had the best compatibility.  The rest that had emulation were software emulation.  I don't see why they couldn't provide a system update to those that can't emulate... just to keep things standard.
