i have noticed that there graphics got alot clearer tonight idk but there almost like HD graphics

Yeah, they look much clearer.  Compare this screenshot.  It shows the older graphics with the newer one.

Note the logo/clock and the ugly smart weathernet graphic.

Obviously a lot of quality was lost when I had to compress it to a jpg under 100KB.  But there is clearly a difference still.

Here's a cap I took on election night (uncompressed).

(For comparison, here's some HD screencaps from the same tuner)

Yeah, there's definitely a difference in the one you have.

I'm still hoping WISN is on track for February HD newscasts.

I've also been noticing newer, sharper looking graphics being interspersed on WISN (mostly wipes and over-the-shoulder).

I'm thinking this is just coincidental in both cases... when other Hearst stations went HD, they went to a completely new graphics package. As for WITI, while they aren't FOX owned anymore, they do continue to use the FOX O&O package, and from what I understand the O&O has been completely revamped of recent.

Yeah I came on here to say the same thing it appear they maybe in HD, but not in 16/9, which is odd, but it sure look HD!

Because of the wide-bandwidth used for HD telecasting it would be possible for any graphic generator, even those used for Standard definition  to show sharp graphics, Graphic clarity is more dependent on channel bandwidth, since any graphic generator made, would have more then enough bandwidth to give  good HDTV service.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Fox 6 to go to local HD.  They have almost no HD equipment now in the studios.

Remember, the Fox network sold Fox 6 to the same group that owns the Chicago Tribune!  Since they filed bankruptcy, there probably isn't a budget for studio upgrades.

Not quite accurate.

WITI is owned by "Local TV, LLC." Local TV is owned by a private equity company, Oak Hill Capital Partners.

The Chicago Tribune is owned by the Tribune Company.

Now, there is a germ of truth in what you say - The Tribune Company and Local TV agreed to form a co-owned "broadcast management company" which provides shared services to both Tribune and Local TV stations... but Tribune's stations remain owned by Tribune, and Local TV's stations remain owned by Local TV:
QuoteWhile the new management company will serve stations across various owners, Tribune Company and Local TV will maintain their own board of directors, senior management, financial structure, shareholders, station management, programming, and network affiliations.  The functions that are common across corporate headquarters will be combined in a transparent manner to both companies.

We'll have to see tonight if they run it in HD.
