Anyone else have problems with this?

I have an HR20 DVR.

I can't tune 58-1 at all. I just get "Searching for signal".
The guide for 58-2 shows the same programs as 58-1  but of course, isn't really.
And I can see 58-2 just fine.

The TV hooked up via a splitter to the same antenna can see 58-1 no problems...
Tried rebooting, no help.

Ideas?

I also have the HR20, and more recently I have noticed two 58-1 channels.  One will search and search, where as the other will tune to the really CBS channel.  I would try deleting all of the OTA channels and searching again.  Otherwise, just try searching first to see if that takes care of the problem.  I just hide the channel that doesnt work.

please post your problems at DBStalk.com as Directv reads that site and takes actions on the bugs that we (users) find.

I too have this problem.  I just go into the antenna setup do another setup and uncheck the wrong 58-1.

Thanks, guys.

I only had one 58-1 and it must have been the wrong one.
Did a "reset" in the Antenna setup and re-ran setup and now have the two 58-1's you guys have -- and one of them works.

Unchecked the "bad" one as suggested and now all is well.

I tried this yesterday and still had both 58-1 showing no signal but I get 58-2 and 58-3. I'll have to try it again maybe tomorrow cuz I'll be watching the Brewers when I get homw and won't have time later. :bang:

Well today I had more time and I was able to fix the problem. Like someone else posted I reset the AM21 and did a new scan. Then I deleted the duplicate 58-1 and 58-2 and all is well! :)

Not trying to be technical here but shouldn't this thread be under HDTV Technical Issues instead? :huh?:

I agree with the posts.  As MPTV changes its sub-channel assignments, they aren't sending correct info. to the collection ageny (Tribune Co.?), or a bunch of old info. isn't being cancelled.  Result: re-running antenna setup for a DirecTV receiver has CH 10 sub-channels that are no longer there.

Of course, WDJT is messed up, too, and Weigel still has no HD deal with D*, but that's another story altogether.

I took a look at //www.zap2it.com , which shows what the stations report to Tribune Services, which eventually become our OTA guide.  For 58, they duplicate things as WDJT amd WMLW.  Also, 58-2 has the wrong information -- a repeat of 58-1, instead of what they really are broadcasting, although WMLWDT-2 has the correct programming info.  This is messed up enough so it's giving me a headache, and my DirecTV receivers are unhappy, too.  What will it take to get correct info. in the right place, and drop WMLW  altogether?  None of the other locals are messing things up, not even MPTV!

Post all issues at
http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=134005

I have informed Zap2it and Tribune that we are putting our D* OTA guide issues there.  They have already fixed a few that have been posted.

I'm having the same issues outlined there.. not only is the guide info screwed up, trying to watch 58-1 is an adventure.

Shows that I've recorded on 58-1 showed up as black screen with a "searching for signal" message when I tried to watch them.   But I get 58-3 (MeTV) perfectly.  Went into the setup to check signal strength, and got a signal on 58-3 but Nada on 58-1 (!).

So I swapped out my antenna and did a complete rescan, got signal on 58-1 and was able to wathc 58-1 live... thought it was fixed. But the DVR issues all returned.

My program guide is showing two 58-1's (one listed as WDJTDT, the other as WMLW, but both showing WDJT's actual program info)  and two 578-2's (one listed as WDJTDT and showing WDJT's program info, the other as WMLW and showing WMLW's actual program info).

Even though my DVR in the living room has the same program guide problems, my CBS shows record fine there. The recording problems only happen on my DVR in the bedroom... but it's caused me to miss CBS Sunday Morning. And when I go to bed and want to watch time-shifted Letterman and he shows up black screen, I've had to watch recorded episodes of Leno instead.  Not only frustrating, but bad timing  as well.

I did so many things, I almost forget the sequence, but here goes.

I unplugged everything, and then restarted stuff, beginning with the SWM-8, antenna amplifier, etc.

Finally, the DirecTV receivers (still bad news).

I reset the antenna settings for the antenna, starting with my real zip code -- 53217.  Then, I added a secondary zip code to kind of shake things up.  I used Kenosha, WI -- 53140 -- as Racine was too close.  That seemed to do it.

Then, I edited the OTA channels and took out WMLW.

Net result -- I got 58-1, 58-2, and 58-3.  For the program guide, 58-1 and 58-3 are correct, but 58-2 has 58-1's listings, but the actual programs are different.  So, if 58-1 is what you want, this is how I did it.  58-2's errors are the station's, as a trip to //www.zap2it.com will show, as are the WMLW duplicates.

Explanation: with DirecTV, the only way to get CBS in HD is to use the antenna, 'cause D* is stuck with analog 58 to re-broadcast, as they don't have a deal with Weigel for the HD version.  C'mon guys!

Gentlemen,
After working with DirecTV, we have been able to determine that DirecTV is/was being given the wrong information copying/routing from Tribune Media Services.  Correspondence between DirecTV and ourselves with Tribune should have this straightened out in about 3 days, according to TMS.  I would advise possbly doing a rescan so the DirecTV guide info can sync up with the OTA program streams once you see the correct number of channels on the guide, ie 58.1, 58.2, and 58.3.  DirectTV said they would also be looking into the zip code issue, but it may take a while.  They advise people to use a zip code that works (posted previously in this forum subject) for their guide systems until they can resolve the issue.
I hope to hear from you that things are good three days from now.
thanks
