I'm currently looking to replace my old rear projection tv and have considered both LCD and DLP.  Right now I am leaning more towards a 61" Samsung LED DLP (figuring I can get a much larger screen for a much smaller price).  Was wondering if anyone here has the Samsung LED DLP and what they think of it in comparison to LCD.

Hello,
When I was looking about 2 yrs ago, the DLP,s  had a buzz to them that you could only hear if you had your ear up to them in the show room. However I had a friend that bought one and in his home it was quite loud. He returned it an bought a Sony XBR2 60"
I bought the Sony XBR2 70", I do like the TV. If I had it to do over I would look at the Reg. LCD and not the rear projections.
Happy hunting!!!

Typical buzz from a plasma power supply and/or cooling fan is worse than the noise of the color wheel on DLP...
LED DLP?  Hmmm... sounds cheaper to run than a 160w bulb!

For the past couple of months I have owned the Samsung HL67A750 LED DLP set and it is fantastic!

You have very little space to its back depth to begin with, even for its size and the price-to-screen size is better than anything compared to flat panels, too.

There is NO buzzing, rainbow effects, colour wheels to fall apart or bulbs to replace, either; black levels are very good, similar to CRT and very accurate colours.

Additionally, you get no possibility of burn-in like plasmas (ever) or no motion blur like LCD panel sets (many do tha I have seen)
-so its the best of all worlds, 67" or 61" size, your choice.
Setup is easy and cnet gave it as good a score as the SXRDs (when these sets were available).

Samsung is in its third generation with these LED DLPs and I think they got it perfected.
As far as power usage, it is a very "green" set.

-I wouldn't trade this set for anything, unless it came in a 72" LED DLP.;)

I have two plasmas, no noise from either.

The heat they produce is another subject. But they will keep you warm in the winter. :)
