Anyone else seeing a black bar across the top above the scoring bar on channel 506?  I have TWC.

I'm seeing it... but only when the score bar is there.. apparently the information itself (and a silver bar) isn't covering enough of the screen... they need to add another 1/2 inch of of solid black to cover a little bit more.  :OnAir:

Maybe it is for a streaming banner that is not being used as of yet.

I think what we are seeing is another form of protecting for 4:3 CRT TVs.  Since analog CRTs have varying amounts of overscan, the outermost edges on all 4 sides are cut off to some extent.  So if the score bar was at the very top of the frame, analog CRT's that are fed from the centercut HD feed would cut off part of the score bar.

The scoring bar has always been inset from the top of the screen, so that's not a change. The change this season is that the space above the scoring bar used to be translucent (a lightly shaded grey) but is now solid black. And it has been that way all season, AFAIK.
