58-2 Just Awful

The U.S. Open, broadcast in HD by CBS had a one-day rain delay, so the Men's Finals were broadcast Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.  WDJT stuck it on 58-2 and, on a reasonably large screen, the picture quality(PQ) was just awful.  It was a rectangle, all right, but it was blurry, and, in general, very poor quality.  On Sunday, on 58-1, the PQ was outstanding -- sharp, clear and crisp.

Big disappointment.  Makes a guy wonder how WDJT is allocating their bandwidth.

Yea, they should give more bandwidth to the sub-channels! :huh?:
You can't have it both ways - complain about the HD and now the SD?

I hope they're about ready to remove 58-3, MeTV, now that it's on 49-1. 23 out of Rockford also put the tennis on their subchannel, 23-2 in SD of course. Their only subchannel is 23-2 (normally weather), unlike 58's third channel, giving them a little more bandwidth to play with.

I'm too far out to receive WMLW's low-power digital channel, but does anyone know if the picture quality on there is better than 58-2?

They kind of will.

They'll be replacing 58-3 "ME-TV" with 58-3 "This TV" on October 1st. :(

Oh yeah, forgot about "This TV". It sounds like a perfect fit for a new 49-2, but I'm sure that won't happen.

I agree, thats where they should put it!  It would make sense putting the 2 classic TV networks together on one transmitter.

So what will happen to ME TV?  Is it gone as of October 1, or just being being moved to another channel location?  (What will its channel number be for cable?)

Analog TV's have channel 49.  ME TV for TWC is on both channel 19 and 201.

The cable lineups should stay the same. I'm not sure where they'll squeeze in 58-3.

I think that's too complicated for Weigel to understand. "What? Put all the WDJT-DT subchannels on WBME-TV and *gasp* give WDJT-HD more bandwith!?"

You are getting a signal on 49.1?  It shows up in my guide, but I get a 'searching for signal' message.  I'm on D*, by the way.

From Genoa City, I'm picking up 49.1 at a whopping 66 on the signal meter using my Dish Network 722 receiver, about the same on my DTVPal converter, and also receiving it with my Zenith DTT900 converter (no "numbered" signal meter). It always takes a few seconds for each tuner to lock in to the signal, but there are no dropouts. Right now, I believe they are broadcasting from the Oak Creek transmitter, but I think they eventually plan on broadcasting from 58's tower, which would drastically improve the range of the signal.

Weigel paid $7 million for channel 49, so they must have bigger plans for it than just METV. The transmitter is supposed to be moved around October 1st. I hope they put ME-TOO on 49.2, but who knows when that will happen.
