I have a Mitsubishi HD ready 64" TV (6 years old) and currently carry TWC HD service.  I am in the Milwaukee area

It's killing me to have to pay $87 per month when the only thing I watch is local channels, ESPN and FSN (Brewer games)

Is there a better way to structuring my configuration?

My priorities are:

HD local channels
DVR capabilities  (HD)
ESPN HD (would settle for a non-HD feed)
FSN HD (would settle for a non-HD feed)

I have considered getting a basic cable package through TWC, installing a HD antennae, and purchasing a HD TIVO box –

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Dish is an option and it's cheaper:

In August, Dish is introducing new all-HD packages, where you can get all of the channels you want and DVR for around $40 a month.

Would you recommend taking the HD package and using their DVR as well?

Also,  I realize this is off the subject, but one of the reasons I ended up with TWC is the handcuff effect of having high speed RR and digital phone.  If I do switch to Dish what recommendations do you have for phone and high speed internet?

You can have RR without cable TV and I assume the phone service would be the
same.

I have D*.

I also have Road Runner and TWC phone service. Not an issue.

If you hook up the phone line to the Sat boxes they seem to work just fine. Despite all the warnings from TWC that the boxes may not work with their phone service.

I've never had Dish HD.. but I was going to get it.  Installers were too lazy though (condo install), and I don't have the time to deal with them right now.. so I just went with TWC for now.  I'd probably still recommend it though, because it's an all-HD service, you basically just get the channels you want, and it's less expensive.  I've heard good reviews about their DVR and it has a lot of space compared to TWC (250GB I believe).

Great - Thanks to all.  Looks like D* has a package coming out 8/1 which will solve my dilemma.
