I used to have Directv 3 yrs ago and then got Dish network until 2 weeks ago when I went back to Directv again. Last time I was able to get Fox East coast from New York on channel 88 , but this time I don't. Should I be calling Directv and telling them to turn on channel 88 FoxE ???

That's all I had to do.  Since Fox 6 is owned by Fox (for now anyway), you will get an automatic waiver.

Thanks, I'll call him tonight when I get home.

Now I called Directv, talked to three CSRs and they all said they have to file a waiver and it may take up to 45 days. I thought , this was automatic..

Interesting.  Took me about a minute to do it over the phone.  However that was before Channel 6 was offered in HD so maybe that's where the change lies.  Plus 6 is for sale, I don't know if that means anything.

But if you are getting 6 in HD I don't know why it would matter if you get 88. The Fox network shows are the same and the rest of their programming is the same syndicated stuff that's shown all over.

Are you saying that if your local Fox is owned by Fox then you can get an automatic waiver for the Fox East National feed on DirecTV?.... This is news to me, if I'm understanding you right. I thought there was a restriction that if your local network affiliate was available that you couldn't get the national feed.

We got the Fox feed out of New York when our locals were not available from D*.

Once they became available the automatic exemption disappeared.

Those who had the National feed prior to the local availability are grandfathered in.

There is a scenario that if you change packages or certain services you can lose the National feed.

You will not get a waiver under any circumstances. Fox 6 is available in SD and HD, end of story.

Because when it comes football season, I could watch different games and also when Fox6 has all the weather garbage on , I could switch to Fox east feed and watch HD.

Agreed, those are the two best reasons.

REVM1M, I had to go through the waiver process several years ago for both 58 and 6.  It took a while, but they were both approved.  Request the waivers, and hope for the best.

I wonder what happens to our East Coast feeds when D* converts them to MPEG4, like they did with the West Coast feeds a while back?  Do the feeds end up going away?

Count yoursaelf lucky Bluto, CBS 58 is denying any and all waivers to receive the HD East feed.  They say that if you can get the SD feed then you are fine and you don't really need the HD feed. If you really wand CBS HD then put up an OTA.   That is probably why Fox denied the earleier poster.  TV station sin Milwaukee deny waivers unless you are freinds with them.

Yup, now I remember, before our locals were in HD we would get 88 automatically because Channel 6 was owned by Fox.  The others had to give waivers.  Now that our locals are in HD we can't get the network feeds without a waiver.

58 won't grant them.  That whole operation blows.
