Friday, June 6 - No Brewers HD???

Alright, maybe you guys can explain this to me...

I have D* - not that it matters for this issue...

The Brewers are not in HD (at least not on D*) tonight, and I don't understand why.  642.1 - Fox Net North is not showing the game in HD.

Although I check Extra Innings on D* and see the game IS available on Fox Rocky Mountain in HD.

Don't the regional Fox networks work together?  i would assume they share the same feeds - it's not like Fox Midwest brings their own cameras and cameramen to the game.

Why wouldn't both networks have the game in HD?  It doesn't cost a cent more for both channels to have it?  I don't get it.

Why can Fox net Rocky Mountain show it in HD and not share the feed with Fox Net Midwest?  Does anyone know?  This seems somewhat ridiculous....

Honestly, I can't understand in today's day and age why EVERY game is not automatically in HD.... but that's another topic I guess.

Anyone know the answer to this?

I have no answer for you, but I feel your pain. The same thing happened during the Bucks season. I know it was on a Fox Sports Net in HD in the other teams market, but at home we just get SD on FSN-WI. You would think it is a big happy family where they would share the content, but I guess not.

I don't know whether or not they bring their own camera operators... I think they might... but I'm fairly certain that each FSN has their own separate producer and director, and I expect separate production truck. That's why you don't see on-screen graphics for the next Rockies game, for instance - those are handled by the FSN Rocky Mountain production crew.

There was at least one instance during spring training where they did have a joint production between the two FSN teams, and the same feed was carried on both FSN networks (coincidentally, I think it was also a game against the Rockies). It was a rather odd broadcast.

The first immediately apparent difference was the score line had "FSN" instead of either "FSN Wisconsin" or "FSN Rocky Mountain." The first half of the game had Brian Anderson teamed with Bill Schroeder and the FSN Rocky Mountain color commentator, George Frazier. The second half had the FSN Rocky Mountain play-by-play guy, Drew Goodman, also with Bill and George. Both networks got ads for FSN Wisconsin AND FSN Rocky Mountain - so we here in Wisconsin were hearing them talk about the upcoming Rockies broadcasts, for instance. It was a weird show.

I can understand each network having their own producers and directors, but I doubt that changes if they are doing a HD gave instead of an SD game, you still have those people taking care of the game.  If it is a matter of separate camera operators, and FSN-WI not wanting to transport their HD equipment to the site, then I'd rather have them take the visiting teams HD feed and put our commentators over the top. I'm sure they can get a copy of the feed before the other network's logo is placed next to the score.
