OTA 4.1 really is 4.1?

While watching the US Open this weekend and Monday, I was reminded of a problem with OTA 4.1 or NBC. The problem is that during all HD sports that should have DD5.1, is really only DD4.1. I have a Sony 7.1 receiver and whenever I change channels, it will show what the station is broadcasting for sound. For DD5.1 it says 3/2.1. Now, when it comes to OTA 4.1 or NBC, the receiver does read 3/2.1, except there is never any sound produced from the center channel. I think this may also be happening during Leno and Conan as well. And yes everything is connected properrly. I have no troubles with any other channels or sources.

Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know why its 4.1 and not 5.1?

I have the exact same problem and it has bothered me since last fall. Someone help us.
