From the Time Warner website:

On 5/15/08, America's Auction Network replaces Celebrity Shopping on channel 191 and Home Preview will no longer be on channel 140.  On 5/29 History HD, National Geographic HD and REELZ channel are added, and TV Asia, Time Warner Digital One, PPV Movie of the Day channels 800 & 804-807 and west coast feeds of TMC, TMC Extra, SHO Beyond, SHO Next, SHO Family, SHO Women and FLIX are removed from the digital lineup.  East feeds of the same movie channels remain on our lineup.  On 5/30 content from Golf On Demand, channel 1110, and Speed On Demand, channel 1109, move into Sports On Demand, channel 1104.
Give me a break. Is this the best they can do?
By the way, REELZ is just a movie advertising channel.

Sounds to me like they're stalling SDV if they have to get rid of those channels at the same time they bring NGC HD and History HD.  That's my guess.  Otherwise they don't want to pay for them, and they'll just keep raising our prices.

That sucks...sorry, TWC, you told us NAVIGATOR was the reason behind SDV and SDV was the way to get more HD channels finally here...what happened?
Another one of your deceptions once again?

10-12 digital channels equals an HD channel and one analogue channel equals 2 HD channels, as I understand it.
So they have room for one more HD channel and these digital channels being dumped to make the room for the other one..;)

But the only thing that will keep me from finally changing to DirectvHD will  be TWC here adding the Sci-Fi HD channel, the only analogue channel I still watch otherwise after the The Weather Channel, too (Storm Stories in HD could be cool).
Since Sci-Fi Channel is in "limbo" with the announcement about carriage, maybe TWC will add them sooner once they sign them back up (yeah, right).:p

Remember, NYC is getting a big dump tomorrow for HD channels...up to 50 will be there, on 4/30.
Wisconsin TWC: Nothing at all...feel the "love".

Well,

On the one hand, I can certainly understand them wanting to get Navigator up to likable customer levels before adding more channels.  But their selection of channels that they add sometimes leaves one scratching their head.  I'm not familiar with HD too much, but I am sure that Sci-Fi on HD has to be AMAZING!!!

I want the horror channel Chiller!  To my knowledge that is offered only on Direct TV and it is a great film showcase  for horror and Sci-Fi fans.  Do any cable systems even carry this channel?

A plus is dropping those wasted bandwidth West Coast Showtime/TWC channels.  I don't think having the same thing 3 hours later is all that big a deal.  Maybe they will do the same with the HBO/Cinemax West feeds as well.  These processes could give subs more channels, more HD content, and SDV formats.  Reel Z???  YUCK!  They could just stick that on a Free On Demand Station.

I know we have football fans here, and I was kind of hoping that Big Ten Network would be added for you guys!  That's the thing about TWC Wisconsin, they seem to be about looking for the cheapest channels that they can buy.  All the money that they put into local community education programs.  Some of that money should really be used to expand the bandwidth for your cable system in Wisconsin!  If other TWC states can give up to 50 different channels, why can't our TWC Wisconsin division?

I can see Bev Greenberg and Jack Herbert planning a big day at Miller Park to launch...........The Knitting Channel!!!

Yes Direct TV has it but not in HD .. yet.

In a way I agree but it seems to me if adding more channels would keep many customers happy maybe we would be more patient regarding Navigator. Currently I am upset with Time Warner due to the following:
1. Limited HD channels
2. No NFL network or Big 10 network.
3. The guide really sucks compared to Passport.

It's lighting a candle instead of cursing the darkness.  Don't blow it out.  Kudos to TW.  Losing west coast feeds for new HD content is a bargain.  The west coast feeds were a waste ever since much of the content of the premiums became available on VOD (IMO).
I can't provide an opinion on History, but Nat Geo is a great HD service.  Naked Science & Explorer are usually good.  Plus there are tons of one-off specials.  IMO, better than TBS...

I will not pay for cable hd until TWC adds FX, Fuel, and Cartoon Network (for adult swim).  I would get satellite hd if I didn't live in an apartment

TWC Wisconsin can dump the HBO and Cinemax WEST channels and add at least the CinemaxHD and StarzHD channels, as most TWC locations already have and had for some time now...but Bev & Co. at TWC won't do that...yet they charge the same for these premiums like TWC does at locations that do offer the HD channels...this stinks.

While TWC is at it, it can add the Sci-Fi HD channel, too, since the analogue channel is up for renewal per their website.;)

Thought I'd bump this since it's supposed to be happening tomorrow.

I'm going to be watching my box like a hawk in case this addition causes reboots.  Tomorrow evening is the 2-hour finale of Lost and if this causes problems with the DVR I will NOT be a happy camper.

I am going to set up our SD DVD recorder in the bedroom as a backup just in case.  I'd at least like to see it, even if it's not in HD.

So...I'll cross my fingers for TWC since all their other "upgrades" have gone so well.

gparris

Big deal...2 HD channels that Green Bay has had for some time now...but wait... it gets worse:

In another thread today, Green Bay is getting another SIX HD channels on the same day we get theirs- that we STILL don't get!

Bev & Co. in TWC Milwaukee must really think HD subs are idiots for keeping them!

Jack 1000

Well,

For me, I would just like more channels that I really cared about.  For example when oh when is Chiller TV coming?  I understand that this great channel (So far at least) is not available on ANY cable systems, and you can only get it on Direct TV.  I wonder why?

It's not only the lack of HD content that is a concern to TWC- Milwaukee Wisconsin, any of the channels that they add are usually crap.  But than the point is raised as stated above, has Navigator overcomed enough of its justified Crapigator namesake, with the problems that remain on some boxes and locations to handle adding more channels?

For me, the first priority has to be a fully functioning guide that works well across the board, and than more channels.  But I guess this will leave a 50/50 debate for the forum, so I will ask for responses on this topic and we can gage the results:

What would you forum members prefer and why?:

1.) Navigator gets a bunch of updates.  The keyboard gets a Search by Topic feature, the IPG gets View This Channel now, and more detailed program listings are added for categories and program descriptions.  You can now choose IPG skins and fonts, and these updates make Navigator work as well as Passport .

OR

2.) TWC adds 30 HD channels but doesn't do any other updating to Navigator.

Now the catch, you can only pick 1.  I know, I know, TWC has been preaching about how people could sell their kids to get a Navigator box because its so "wonderful?"  But forgetting their sales pitch crap, and knowing what we know about the guide and the lack of HD content compared to other locations, between 1 and 2, what do you choose?

TWC Green Bay was mentioned as having more HD Content than Milwaukee and Metro Milwaukee markets.  Have they been changed to Navigator up there yet?

#2 obviously. I'd walk through the woods to get more HD channels on TWC because I can't get D-TV at my apartment. I have my gripes with Navigator but they are nothing compared to the HD Channels that are available that I'd watch.
