Did not record because "Episode was not available."

Hi all. Just joined today. This is my first post.

I'm pretty frustrated with the new TWC Navigator software like many of you. My biggest frustration is that it's not recording sporting events which are the primary reason I have a DVR.

PROBLEM 1: Sporting events that I've set up to record as a series are not recording.
Ex. NBA Basketball on TNTHD

Today in the recording log, I found a clue as to why my shows are not recording. It claims that the NBA games tonight were not recorded because the "episode was not available".

I know the games were on, because I caught the second game in progress (real time).

Does anyone know what the message means (in technical terms)?

I know that sometimes the basketball games don't start on time and overlap the boundaries of the segments displayed in the guide view. Maybe this has something to do with it?

Does anyone know how to get around this limitation?

PROBLEM 2: I do not have the option to "Record Entire Series" when I have a sporting event selected in the guide/browser.

It's extremely confusing and I don't know why some shows can be recorded as a series while others cannot.

Can anyone explain the details of how recording a series works with the new Navigator software?

Any help you can provide is much appreciated.

It's a limitation of the navigator software.  No series recordings for live events.  The ones you had setup before the software switch will do nothing.  A major limitation on navigator is also you won't be able to set up a manual recording either to record sporting events on 531.

I just switched to directV and the HR21 software has the same limitation.  However, you can use an "autorecord" feature to record anything with the word brewers in it, but then I end up with 100 recordings of nothing from channels I don't get or are blacked out.

When I got the HD-DVR last fall from TWC, i got this error, the Tech came out, and the response was "I've never heard of that before, I'll swap out your box"  Then it didn't happen for about a month and it came back.  TWC claimed it was a bad box, but 2 in a row?  they swapped again, and as soon as it happened again, i had them credit me the full months bill and I called DirecTV the next day to schedule the install.

I got something similar,

I recorded Emeril Live on Tuesday night, and 20 minutes into the program, the recording stopped.  I was not around on Tuesday night to see what had happened. I noticed it on Playback yesterday.  But when I deleted the show, which became useless, stopping at 6:20, I went to the Recording Log and it said, "Failed to Record because channel was not authorized."  I tried some other test recordings and even recorded another Food Network show which does show in the Info section, that I did get the whole half hour this time.

Does this behavior mean that the box could have rebooted at 6:21 on my Tuesday Emeril taping, and that is why I received the "box is not authorized" message?

On a side-note, I wonder why there are three listings for Food Network?  One is Channel 67, the other is a channel in the 1900's if you subscribe to the Digital Kids and Family package or I think it's called Family Choice.  But than, there is another listing in the 1800's for Food Network that just says, "This Channel is Not Available.  There are a bunch of "Test Channels" in the 1800's range.  However, I don't think that TWC should include those channels until they are ready.  It just confuses matters for everyone.

Maybe the three versions of the channel in the guide is confusing Navigator too?  :huh?:
