This news story is obviously a long way off in the future but I note that

QuoteThe news channel will employ state-of-the-art television equipment

As it will be all new, perhaps they will procure HDTV capable cameras and production equipment?  A Milwaukee based 24hr HDTV news station?  That would be a first and perhaps just pie in the sky.....

Time Warner to launch 24-hour local news channel

Time Warner Cable in Milwaukee said Friday that it will launch a 24-hour local news channel in Milwaukee in mid-2004, its first in the Midwest.

The cable television company said the 24-hour format will emphasize breaking news stories, community-based reporting and extensive coverage of weather and traffic. The network will operate from offices on Milwaukee's Riverwalk and will be telecast from Time Warner's Milwaukee offices at 1320 N Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

The channel is expected to hire more than 90 employees. Wayne Lynch, a founding news director of an 11-year-old, 24-hour regional cable news channel in the Washington, D.C. area, has been hired as general manager for the Milwaukee channel.

"The news channel will employ state-of-the-art television equipment and adhere to the highest journalistic standards," said Carol Hevey, president of Time Warner Cable Southeastern Wisconsin Division.

Time Warner Cable operates six other local news channels across the country. Cities covered include New York City; Tampa, Fla.; Orlando, Fla.; and Austin, Texas.

Milwaukee represents Time Warner Cable's fourth largest division across the country with 425,000 customers in 131 communities in southeastern Wisconsin.

Yeah, sorry Kerry.

I've set up the 'news' forum such that Gregg (and Tom & I) are the only ones able to post new items there.

If you find news items, let us know and we'll help get them in there.

Thanks !
