Satellite Provider Remains On Schedule to Reach Year-End Goal of 100 National HD Channels

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., May 11, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- DISH Network Corporation (Nasdaq: DISH - News), today announced plans to bolster its rapidly expanding HD programming with the launch of an additional 22 national HD channels beginning Monday, May 12. These additions include:

-- Toon Disney HD (Ch. 174)
-- Comcast Sports Network New England HD (Ch 435)* -- Travel Channel HD (Ch. 215)

That's fantastic.  I have DirecTV but the more competition the better for everyone.

I've been waiting patiently for a big jump like this. The few additions last month like USA and CNN HD were not much for me, but another Cinemax and ESPN News will be channels that get more of my attention now.

Now there is some real competition to Directv, something none of the local cable co. can come close to competing with.

And now DISH has downsized the VOOM channels to 5 channels. This reduces their HD count by 10.
