From EngadgetHD:
Quote from: EngadgetHDA keen observer over at DBSTalk noticed that the ATSC tuner add on for the HR21 is finally available on DirecTV.com for purchase. This $50 accessory will enable HR21 owners to tune into and record OTA HD channels and is a must have for anyone who wants access to every local HD channel in their area. Although DirecTV caries HD locals in most markets, it doesn't carry all the HD channels in those same markets. As expected, it'll let you record two shows at once, but unfortunately it doesn't work with the H21 HD receiver (non-DVR).

So with this add-on you can record 4 shows at once? 2 sat & 2 ota?

Cheesehead Dave

No, it just integrates your OTA antenna with your HR21 DVR so you can record OTA channels. You can still only record two shows at once.

That's pretty weak since Dish will let you do 3 and you don't have to shell out an extra 50. I wonder what the issue is since the tuners are there.

The OTA tuners are not encluded in the new HR 21's and H21's.  For people who receive all their local stations via DirectTV  its a none issue. For those who don't (Channel 58) this is what we need. It's a way to build recievers cheaper by leaving out the OTA tuner.

My tuner was ordered yesterday. Can't wait!

The purpose & reason for the add-on is not what I'm questioning.

Ordered mine today {cheers}

It also finally let's me tune in PBS HD 36-1 and all the other sub channels AND get rid of the H10 box that I was using for OTA.

It was pain to switch boxes (if I remembered) to find out what was on PBS HD

Well it arrived this afternoon,

All hooked up and running just fine.

Ken,

I saw your post at DBS,  in the main AM-21 now available thread.

Fed Ex home apparently delivers on Mondays.  So maybe look for it tomorrow.

As I stated there, The CSR said 2-3 days NOT counting Sunday, So delivery was pretty much on time.

Yes I have been hanging out in thr DBS forum more since I've gotten DirectTv. Glad to see you have your AM21. I'm hoping to see mine today when I get home from work. If not, I'll need to make call since I placed my order on the first day available 4/30 and from what I'm hearing orders on that date may have been fouled up. We'll see!
