John,

It is available as of today, $50.00 on D* website.
CSR was not aware of that. Call again and let them know it is available on their website under Additional Kits section.:OnAir:

Andrew,

Thanks for the info.  I can't get into that tab on the website...it says that my account "has not yet been activated" - so, I am denied access and cannot make any changes to my order.

However, the installer called me back an hour after he left my home.  He said he located an HR20 in New Berlin.  He's coming back on Friday to install the system.  So, it looks like my problem is solved.

Isn't it odd that I spoke with two different CSR's, and three seperate supervisors who either had no knowledge of this add on box, or they did know about it but said that it would not be available until at least Labor Day?

I'm looking forward to Friday to see if this finally works out...thanks again.

I suspect that their cart is smart enough to know that you only need an AM21 if you have an HR21-700... I don't need one, so they don't offer it to me.

Thanks for the screen caps. We beleive you...

Of course that doesn't mean we still don't think you're CRAZY. :rof:

Thanks for the pictures...I plan to show them to the installer when he arrives tomorrow morning to prove that such a device really does exist.

I'd like your opinion...should I have the HR20 installed (even though it's a refurbished unit - and apparently older technology) or, should I have the installer give me the HR21 and then add on the additional unit for $50?

In other words, which set-up seems best to you?

Since I clearly receive all HD OTA channels from Milwaukee and Chicago, my main interest is being able to record those channels (in HD of course).

Which way would you go?

Thanks in advance for any advice that you may have for me...

John

ps. Could there be a long wait list for these add on boxes?  I ask that since not one of the five DirecTV staff that I have spoken with have even heard of these devices, or they state that the boxes will not be available until at least Labor Day, if even then.
