From Robert Feder in the Chicago Sun-Times:

"•   •   Chicago-based Weigel Broadcasting has completed the acquisition of its 10th station -- WJJA-TV in Racine, Wis.

It's turning the station into a Milwaukee-area outlet for "Me-TV," a version of the vintage rerun format airing on Weigel's WWME-Channel 23 here."

No, I don't have a clue what's going to happen with the subchannel it's broadcasting on now.

Oh, one more thing. This coincides with their analog and DTV antenna swap up on their CBS tower from the one down in Kenosha. So the reception should be better in Milwaukee, obviously.

What they SHOULD do is the following:

1.) Move ME-TV to channel 49 (local,) channel 19 (on TWC,) which is being done.

2.)  Make the current ME TV on cable channel 201, ME-TV 2, which is a separate station  in addition to the original version that broadcasts out of Chicago.

I'd switch WMLW to ME-TV 2 instead.

Kenosha?
The WJJA tower is located in Oak Creek on Oakwood Road right next to the lake.

Their DTV signal doesn't seem to be operational yet. I tried digital Ch. 48 on my tuner, and nothing.

I wonder if they'll do a MeToo on 49.2? Or put Ch. 63 on there. Since they'll obviously be doing SD on that channel, they can reasonably accommodate four subchannels there (like Ch. 55 does with the Ion stuff and Ch. 10 does with all their subchannels (though four of the eight are the same video, but different audio streams for music, WRN and NWS/traffic audio). Ch. 55 seems to be doing well with their subchannel operation, Ch. 10 seems a bit crowded and the picture and audio tends to get a little funny.

Ch. 58 will probably keep WMLW on 58.2, since the two stations kinda compliment each other (with news and cross-promotion). And once DT 49 gets going, they'll slap up a graphic sending MeTV viewers there.

Last night I noticed that the analog ch. 49 is not in stereo and started to wonder if they will add that. When I woke up again this morning, giving it a little thought....that would actually be a waste of money. If they do add Stereo, it will be a laugh since WJJA-TV will be shut down permanently in 10 months! Therefore adding Stereo to the analog would be a total waste of time and money.

In response to WJJA-DT, I logged it on my digital tuner on Monday afternoon with test bars and later when ME-TV was on. I haven't checked since.

Aren't most of those old shows in mono anyway?

It depends on what you mean is Old???

What about old TV shows within the past 20 years?  Or when they add some in the near future.  They seem to broadcast a couple shows that are less 20 years old and they maybe in Stereo.

I have contracted some management people in the hopes that ME-TV TOO might be added to channel 201, once the signal on TWC channel 19 is better.  Why not do that, instead of having a duplicate channel?

Jack

PS.  Channel 201 looks much better than channel 19 at this point.  Until there is a change, I will watch on channel 201.  But what a nice spot for ME-TV TOO!
