Dish released a statement yesterday or today saying it was not going to cause problems.  Milwaukee HD is still on for this year to happen.  Even without the sattelite that isn't in the right place.   I just want SciFi in HD and my world will be complete.  ;-)

In Dish's SEC filing yesterday, they said it WOULD effect their HD roll out. So which is it Charlie?

Agreed... it shouldn't hamper HD rollout too much.  Article states they are going to burn fuel to get it into proper orbit.  Doing so will likely shorten its expected lifespan.

It has a lot to do with it's location being far in the eastern sky.  It is not for the "core" HD stuff, but would likely be for those on the east coast getting HD.  Keep in mind that at one time we had to have a lnb for that location, but they stopped doing that and put us all back to the middle of the sky.  So, even if they intended to have some HD in this location, they would have to install a lot of lnb's for those who would be getting that signal anyhow.

With all of this in mind, it may change some long term HD plans, but nothing in the short term.

Too bad... If they have the fuel to contemplate moving it, they should use some of that to dump it back into the atmosphere.  There is enough junk orbiting the earth already...
