Hello, all you HD fans!  Yea, I'm back to DriecTV after the Navigator update from TWC.  Years ago when I had DTV I was able to get a "waiver" from DTV to get CBSE cost as CBSW due to not getting the CBSHD though the DTV.  With my new equipment I see DTV took off the "offair" input so now even if I could get Local 58 CBSHD I couldn't DVR anything off fo it.  Are any of you getting the CBSHD east or west through your DTV ??

Thanks!

There's a add-on for  OTA. It's supposed to be available in May.

To answer the question NO.

CBS-58 will deny any and all applications for waivers.

Give it a few weeks (late April/end of May) and the OTA tuner AM-21 will be available to add on to our HR21's.

Rumored price for the AM-21... $59.99.

I don't think I will be able to get OTA with a set top where I live.  Port Washington, North side.  Not going to put another thing on my house for one channel either!   Hope DTV gets local CBSHD soon!!!

I was able to get a waiver for ch 80 CBS and ch 88 FOX.  It was about two years ago now.  I am guessing this cant be done anymore?

Waterford may be far enough away that 58 doesn't care...

Everyone in the Milwaukee area gets Fox5 NY (Ch.88) for now. Fox 6 was an O&O. (Owned and Operated by Fox) Which allowed the out of market carriage.

I don't know what the current ownership change of WITI will mean for the carriage of Fox5.

I live in Port Washington and get all the Milwaukee HD channels over the air on my HTPC.  I got all 5 CBS when the tourney was on, all 8 MPTV 10's, etc. Just so you know you can and should get it in Port.

Bluto

I can neither confirm nor deny that I get both 80 and 88.  ;)  And I'm pretty close to Milwaukee.  If I did indeed have access to those channels, I would have had them for three years now.

I can remembered at one point a waiver wasn't needed. All one needed was to call DirecTV and they will let you have both the East and West feeds for all networks. That was before the locals were offered.

Yea, I called them yesterday.  They told me they have to clear it with the FCC then our Local 58 has to sign off on it too.  DTV told me it could take up to 45 days for them to get back to me.  I hope I get it though!!  I'm not optimistic though!

I have been getting  Ch 80 for years, used to get 81 as well until they took that away. I  still get 380 and 381, but these are not HD. At the time, D* sent a wavier in for me, and it came back approved. I am charged $2.25 extra per month. Like most everyone else I also get FOX on 88, no charge for that.

Hmmm... I have never gotten, nor do I currently get 80, 88, 380 or 381. :(  I asked 58 for a waiver, but was denied.

And I cursed Jim Hall and DirecTV last night as I tried to watch Letterman in HD OTA, but wind in the trees made the multipath so bad it sputtered, blocked and stalled so frequently that I just gave up and watched Leno.

For 88 I just had to call and they flipped the switch right away since Channel 6 is OO.

That was before locals were offered so 88 isn't really needed now.
