Sound Levels

Hey guys and gals!  My folks have a high def LCD TV connected to TW digital cable with an SA 8300HD.  Does this box have some type of setting in it to even out the audio levels?  Flipping around during commercials and coming back to a channel seems to be really quiet at first, and then after about 30 sec's, it's back to "normal".

I know that the stations can alter the sound volume during commercials, but lately it's been really excessive, esp on FX.  Most of the problems occur with non-HD channel viewing.

The TV is an Olevia, and the connection to the 8300 is via HDMI.  The set doesn't have any volume stabilization settings that I'm aware of (I own one of these myself and have paged through the options hundreds of times...)...

Is this something that I should have looked into with Time Warner?  Other than the sound volume levels, I think the service is pretty good, albeit expensive.  TIA
