Quote from: Lethdorr;45288That megapost with all the SDV deployments isn't totally accurate. I've got a TiVo HD with 2 SA cablecards and can see every channel (other than those that don't come through on cablecards, ie, ON Demand). And TWC's own techs said that SDV wouldn't be deployed until summer. They have most of the infrastructure in place, but they're still wrapping up some finishing touches. Let's hope the tuning resolver for the TiVos will be ready by then.....
:bang:

Thanks, I never take avsforums as the "word", but many members there do offer technical and helpful insights,.
-I didn't know TWC here in Wisconsin, after all this time, still didn't get its "act together" by now in SE Wisconsin for SDV.

Just as Navigator is not required for HD channel additions, otherwise other TWC locations would be having/requiring it with the many more HD channels they already have over us at other locations.

-Just another bad joke on us in Wisconsin, unfortunately.

I was at a friends house tonight helping him hook up his TWC SA8300 DVR to his new 50" Panny Plasma. He spent a lot of time over the last few days with Customer No Support at Panasonic, Onkyo and TWC because he can get no picture via HDMI.
I went over and we hooked up via composite cables and it works great but...... I did have a chance to play with the new Navigator software and it was pretty slow.
The menu's are very limited and wouldn't even allow for volume levels, transparency etc.....it was very frustrating for him to get no support because the box wouldn't handshake with his Onkyo receiver via HDMI.

I dread the day they "upgrade" my DVR to the software but at least it wasn't as bad as that You tube video that's been posted.

Quote from: mhz40;45296Where was this 'tuning resolver' ever mentioned for TiVo?  I don't see it happening unless TiVo comes out with new units supporting "tru2way" capability.  Even then, only maybe...IMHO.

http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6530272.html - "Last fall, major cable operators said they plan to offer the SDV tuning resolvers -- which are expected to be the size of a small digital set-top box -- to TiVo customers in the second quarter of 2008. Switched digital video allows operators to free up bandwidth, by delivering linear TV channels only when subscribers in a service group request them."

http://investor.tivo.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=276754 - "The cable industry and TiVo Inc. (Nasdaq: TIVO), the creator of and a leader in television services for digital video recorders (DVRs), today announced that cable operators will next year introduce a new external adapter that will enable TiVo(R) digital video recorders that use CableCARDs(TM) to access switched digital cable channels without a set top box, according to National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) President & CEO Kyle McSlarrow and TiVo President & CEO Tom Rogers."
