JSOnline reports CBS 58's NCAA HD strategy...

The key line here is:

We're gonna have some unhappy fans and some happy fans," says Hall. "The happy fans will be the fans that want to see games in high definition."

I'm not sure why 58 is making a big deal out of "more HD".  Why wouldn't 58.1 show the games in HD?  Are they showing more HD games than other CBS affiliates around the country?

I think the "more" refers to how in the past they'd have all 4 games on during the opening rounds (all in what looked like webcam quality), none in HD.

Exactly... If you weren't around here in the past, just take a look at these shining examples of the love this site had for 58:

I think its the right move.  The density of HD displays in the area have grown exponentially, especially this last holiday season.  I think that may be part of what is reflected here in this decision.
Although I no longer am able to see WDJT's programming, I applaud DJT's management for making the changes.  I remember what it was like over the past several March Madness runs.  It was a situation where none of the channels looked that great... it was a bit frustrating.

Man, I miss Joseph S.  He was always an entertaining read. :)

DooMer_MP3

Thank you! I was always irritated with the horrid quality for the first round or two.

That's what we've been hoping for all along - the ability to get the local game in HD!

Now, for those of you that have D*, you can get EVERY game in HD!

Thanks again Jim - college basketball is awesome in HD - especially the NCAA tournament!  And the ability to finally be able to get every game in HD - well, as the credit card commercial says - PRICELESS!

Way to GO!

Chinatown

Thursday @ 4:00 pm  Cornell/Stanford

Friday   @ 6:00 pm  St. Joesph /  Oklahoma

Dear OslonNet:

Just wondering how you are stating that our game PQ is bad at 10:30am when the games have yet to start.

JimHall

His post now states 11:23, but I could have sworn it stated 10:23am prior.  Also, we are monitoring HD & SD on several sets and at the very start we had some motion artifacts, but as of 11:50am final adjustments were made and we have seen no motion artifacts to speak of.  I would be curious if you are still seeing them and what type of set and antenna system you are using.

Thanks
